Designers...

I friend of mine spoke about the designer Rob Ryan who uses stencils in a lot of his work. I really like what he does as it is quite unusual and interesting!

Here are some examples of his work...

Flat Pack It!

During the first semester of my third year we were giving a project titled "Flat Pack It". Our project involved us designing a flat pack product that could be made from one sheet of cardboard. After initial concepts I came up with a flatpack vase that could be bought as a flat object and then constructed at home. Using the cardboard and other materials was the best bit as you could be as creative as you wanted and for my project it was all about trying to make my vase water proof. I came up with various solutions but the final product was made from a cardboard outer shape with a plastic lining that held the water but could be seen outside the vase shape giving it a very interesting and pretty effect.

New York

Earlier this year we went to New York on a Uni trip! I have never been before and was blown away by the city. It was busy and noisey and exciting and I loved it. We visited a lot of museums and in particular I liked MOMA. It had a huge variety of exhibitions, all very different and very interesting. The whole city just feels exciting and there is always a buzz. It's always busy with people coming and going by themselves but I loved it. Everything you see in the movies from the crazy taxi drivers to the steam coming up from the subway seem to be true! Going up the Empire State Building was amazing and the view at night time was just beautiful. We didn't make it out to see the Statue of Liberty but I did see her from a distance. The whole trip was very exciting and enjoyable. I would really like to go back and spend more time in the museums and visiting different areas of the city as 4 days didn't seem like enough time!
